Year 6S

Welcome to Year 6S’s class page 2020-2021

In Year 6, we have high expectations of all of the children, through behaviour and being ready to learn and grow as a team and individuals. We will be encouraging the children to become more independent and to take responsibility for organising themselves and their belongings.

Our classroom is a happy and positive working environment, where praise and encouragement are used to motivate and support all of the children. We ask that each child tries their best and develops a resilient attitude towards learning.

Throughout the year, lots of new and exciting learning will take place. Your children will be challenged to be the very best they can be and encouraged to take part in every aspect of school life. We value the support you give your child at home with reading, spelling, learning times tables and delving into any topic based research or interests your children may express.

Year 6 Overview of Themes 2020-2021

Spring Term Work

Our Poetry work this term has used song lyrics as inspiration.  Can you guess which songs these children chose to inspire them?

Poetry

During our Viking topic, the children have made models of Viking longships as apart of a home project.  Great work!!

Vikings!

Spring Term Home Learning

We have completed amazing work while at home.  Have a look at our pictures - we even baked bread through Zoom with Mrs Edwards and 6E.

World War II 2019-2020

To start our new topic on WW2, we listened to the speech given by Neville Chamberlain on September 3rd 1939, informing the British public that Britain was at war with Germany. The children then made 'gas masks' and 'gas mask boxes' in preparation for the German invasion.

These are our final pieces of art, based on the work of war artist Henry Moore. 2019-2020
